Business Insight, as part of the Central Library, is the UK’s most comprehensive public business information service, serving Birmingham since 1919.
Creative Insight is our intellectual property arm, offering a high quality service that will help you protect your ideas and turn them into reality. With a remit that covers Copyright, Designs, Patents and Trademarks, we hope to be able to demonstrate how you can use these assets to grow a successful business from the most basic germ of an idea.
We are dedicated to providing information for businesses, the general public and the “creative industries” on intellectual property issues. We offer our comprehensive range of free and commercial services on a UK wide basis.
Our support is impartial and non-biased, funded through value-added charges on selected services while adhering to a non-profit making ethos.
Aims
The goal of Creative Insight is to meet a community need
for guidance and assistance and to provide information on intellectual property
issues for any business or individual.
Our “community” has expanded to embrace the whole of the UK
as our services have expanded.
We want to:
- Help individuals exploit their creative talents
- Help companies use their IP assets to full advantage
- Inform customers so they can prevent their rights being abused by others
Our key aim is to make intellectual property issues more relevant and accessible to individuals, small companies and the creative industries, enabling them to benefit more fully from their ideas. All our activities are directed at dealing with the practical business applications of IP and bridging the gap between these and the frequently off-putting theory. We focus instead on the legal and economic advantages of exploiting your IP rights as reflected in contracts, work procedures, financial value, etc.
